First thank you for the nice note you mailed to me. It was not necessary but
certainly appreciated. Second, a BIG THANK you for your help in facilitating
our purchase through Griffin & Howe. We picked up the Beretta on Saturday
from Collectors Firearms, and headed to the range.
We had a pretty big learning curve purchasing online, as it was our first time,
and appreciated YOUR patience with us. You made the whole process pain-free.
Justin was very pleased with the gun in both performance and the quality of the wood that it has.
If I am ever in the NE area, I will certainly stop in to visit your store, and if you find
yourself in the Houston area, you can be assured that there is an open dinner invite for you down here.

I am communicating with you to express my satisfaction on my most recent acquisition of two
Dakota rifles from Griffin & Howe.
A retail transaction that usually ends at the cash register, at Griffin & Howe it continued
with fine gunsmithing and expeditious, complimentary fine tuning at the Hudson Farm facilities
under the initiative, supervision and personal time of Jim Kromka.
Jim not only introduced me to an unparalleled customer experience but to your extended family

This level of service has enhanced the sentimental value of my new firearms and will forever

Yesterday, Tuesday, UPS delivered two bases to my home. They are precisely what I wanted
and feared I could not get. To say I am grateful is to understate how I feel.
I am most grateful, relieved, and very impressed with the actions you have taken.
I am an old man who used Jaeger mounts when Paul Jaeger was in Jenkinstown PA. When I came
to Alaska in 1950 I became good friends with Hal and Julie Waugh, he being the well known
Kodiak bear guide. Hal used G&H mounts exclusively and influenced my choice of mounts.
Obviously I have not used your mounts during the last decade, but I am happy to discover
that your firm has retained its integrity and high level of service. I can assure you that
I will not miss any opportunity to extoll your firm's high standards and the quality of your
products. If you are coming to the state and I can be of any service to you, please give me

The big red new feature on the website is a stroke of genius. As a gun buyer I'm not so much interested in what has been in inventory, I'm interested in what just came in and that feature allows a person to quickly scan thru the entire inventory. It takes two minutes to scan everything. Clients can do it daily but it's crucial that it's maintained and updated properly.

Many thanks for the very professional, friendly and expeditious way YOU and G&H have handled that Jeffery double rifle. I hope I will in the future have the pleasure to deal with you and G&H again, it was a real pleasure.
With the Jeffery I closed one more position in my wish list in special double rifles between 1890 and 1945.
Could you recommend anyone at G&H with whom I could speak about it, in case something comes up on your side of the pond? G&H had a nice Jeffery 8 bore a while back, I was too slow then, it must have made another person happy...
Thanks for all, I will notify you once the Jeffery arrived in Switzerland.

I also wanted to compliment Ms. Shari Buchanan. She has provided me impeccable customer service. Having served as a manager for years myself, I submit my observation that G&H is lucky to have an employee with that level of commitment to her work.

Cycles of life. About a dozen years ago, I got a yen for a side by side. Why? Who knows! I found the Griffin & Howe website ( http://griffinhowe.com/ ) and called them. Admittedly, I was a bit intimidated by calling such a prestigious firm. I was half expecting to get blown off. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The gentleman I spoke to was helpful and counseled me on selection as best as one could over the phone. I made a purchase. I bought a “LePage” which is a Belgian double. When he found that I was going to London for the military, the “salesman” arranged for me to visit that holy of holies………”Purdey”! Needless to say, did not make a purchase there. However, they were polite and accommodating to a party they knew was not a buyer. A few months later, I discovered that the person to whom I had been talking to at G&H was now the head of the company. Here I thought I was just talking to a very good salesman.
I guess the lesson to be learned from my Griffin & Howe/Purdey experience is not to hesitate to contact these top of the line firms. Most of us expect them to be stuffy and condescending. That was not my experience. Though I would never wear a tie, highly shined boots, etc. when hunting, in the end, we are all hunters and gun folks. If G&H were closer, I would be there regularly. They have been around so long because, they know how to treat people and get you the best possible for your budget. I was very happy with my purchase. They have a great selection of used guns. For the record, I have no connection to that company. If only I did!
Maybe I will call and try to convince them to open a shop near me. I could retire to a life of working for them.

I wanted to take a moment to let you know about a great experience I had purchasing a shotgun from Griffin & Howe. I've been out of shooting for several years, and recently decided to get back into the sport. My intention is to become active in sporting clays and other target shooting. I've been shopping for a suitable shotgun for several months and have spent lots of time in big box stores, specialty stores, shows (including Vintagers) and on-line. I received lots of sales pitches, a surprising amount of indifference, but little assistance or usable advice. That changed when I stopped in the Bernardsville store last week and met Jim Kromka.
Jim did an absolutely outstanding job in walking me through what I should be looking for in a gun based on how I planned to use it, showing me what was available for sale, and actually listening to my questions and giving thoughtful, useful advice. I did not purchase a shotgun during my first visit. I returned the day after Thanksgiving and Jim again spent his time and energy in addressing my questions, showing me alternatives and fitting me to the right gun. As a result, I purchased a gun that was not one I had originally considered. I feel that I was well served and made a great purchasing decision. Jim wasn't pressuring me in any way - he showed me some great alternatives that I had not considered and as a result I'm enormously pleased with the outcome.
I'm not a New Jersey resident, so it is a bit of an effort to purchase a gun in NJ and ship it to Virginia where I reside. Jim and the staff at the store took all the effort out of that as well, located a FFL dealer in my area who would accept the shipment, and shipped the gun with no problems at all. As a result, I plan to continue to purchase any long guns and accessories that I buy in the future from Griffin & Howe, and hope that Jim will always be there to assist. He does a great job and I wanted you to know that.

Kevin, a great 90+ minutes Saturday. I never knew I was left eye dominant, and I've been playing around with weapons as a user and a trainer for years...not shotguns mind you, but lots of direct fire systems from pistols to 120mm tank guns. I felt very comfortable in lesson 2; the things you taught me obviously burned in. The pointers you gave me on sighting and fixing technique in hunting will be invaluable.
Thanks for some terrific instruction. I'll let you know how it goes.

Subject: THANKS FOR THE GREAT JOB ON MY M1 SCOPE MOUNT
I got my M1 Garand barrelled action back from you today with your Griffin & Howe scope mount all complete, and I AM TOTALLY DELIGHTED! The scope I sent along with it for you to mount is dead center, left & right, up and down. I know that work took an hour or two after all your machine work on my M1 receiver. I'm a car collector as well as a gun collector. The headlight lenses in my Model A's were made by a glass company in NJ back in the '30's, and that company still make the same lenses today,
in the same molds. In the car collecting hobby, we call these kinds of parts "living antiques."
Just like your Griffin & Howe scope mounts, which you made for Uncle Sam in WWII.
I know you made about 20,000 of them then, and I'm glad to have a fine example of your company's "living antique" work in my home tonight. Thanks for your personal attention to my order, and I hope you will use my testimonial on your website or in your advertising to let the world know the kind of quality work you do.

From the Parker Discussion Forum,
I received my Certificate today on my 20 ga Parker VHE from Robert Beach at Griffin & Howe. Never before have I received such a well done and complete work of provenance. As well as the Certificate of Disposition, another page of notes on the gun and buyer included the 1930 census with his name and family and a copy of the original ledger sheet showing the sale and cost.
It is a wonderful addition to my Parker.
Dear Mr. Beach,
Thank you for your help. Yesterday I spoke with Mr. Chapman and then decided to buy the rifle.
Griffin & Howe has had a special place in my heart for more than four decades. When I was a teenager, I brought to G&H my grandfather's old and virtually valueless shotgun to you all. The gun had suffered from many years of neglect, my grandfather having died in the 1940s and with no one with any interest in firearms among his heirs except me. When it finally became mine, I took it to G&H asking for it to be saved from the scrap heap. Despite my age and the gun's lack of value, I was treated with courtesy and respect. Thanks to the skills and kindness at G&H my grandfather's shotgun was reborn. That fall I used it to get my first duck.
Thanks again for your help.
Right after receiving the Winchester Model 54 target that I bought from you, I telephoned to tell you that it was here and that I was most pleased with it. Joe took the message; I hope it was relayed to you. Again, I want to thank you for the time you took to answer all of my questions about the gun before the sale. I realize that a $500 gun deal isn't going to set any records at G & H, but you gave me the same treatment that I would have expected had I been dealing on a high-priced piece. I appreciate that!
I recently encountered a sporterized Krag rifle that appears to be a Griffin & Howe piece. Do you folks have records about guns built by your firm in the past that can be accessed to determine authenticity and information?
David R. Kern
Hope all is well with you. Counting the days till I can break out the Arrieta again! Best money I ever spent. Thanks again for all your help.
Joe, if you ever come across a Browning 16 ga. Uplander could you please let me know? I have both the 12 and 20, and would really like to get the 16. I know it was only made for a few years. I even had one in my hands and didn't buy it! That was a mistake. I appreciate it.
